SCHOOL & PTO NEWS
A MESSAGE FROM DANA LINTELL, HURLBUTT PTO PRESIDENT
Wow, what a day Tuesday, May 8th was for the Hurlbutt Elementary School Staff. The day began with coffee and muffins for our bus drivers in the bus garage. Then flowers were brought to school by excited children coming off the buses and from the drop off line. Parents worked very hard and creatively to arrange over 150 floral bouquets which were all hand delivered before 10AM. There were PTO volunteers who were busy setting up the Teachers Lounge for a beautiful lunch buffet for the HES Staff. And at the same time, over 400 telegrams were delivered and parents worked hard at lunchroom and recess duty. WHOOO!!!
First and foremost, I would like to thank our amazing Staff Appreciation Chairs, Lisa Zhang and Debbie Sollinger. What an incredible job they did! From arranging the volunteers, the food donations, purchasing the food, setting up the vases with hand written name tags and stations, purchasing buckets, shears and so much more - THANK YOU! Thank you to our donations from Peter’s Market and Fresh Market. And also a special thank you to Cathy Greene for organizing the telegrams and to all the parent volunteers - it takes a village and you are the Hurlbutt village.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS, for our Hurlbutt Outdoor Learning Garden Building Weekend

On a personal note, I know many of you are feeling great sadness in the loss of Adam Wysota, who was well-known in the community as a great father, husband, coach and friend. Our thoughts and prayers are all with the Wysota family.
Wishing all you fabulous mothers - a Happy Mother's Day!!
Regards,
Dana Lintell

Thank you all for making Staff Appreciation Day a success!
In my former life I studied social work, specifically community organization - yesterday reminded me why. There is something so wonderful and so powerful about being a part of a community that comes together to realize a shared goal. We wanted to show our staff how much we value them and the work they do all year long - and we did.
I'm so glad I got to be a part of this team and I'm looking forward to more great things in our community.
Thanks again,
Staff Appreciation Chairs
Debbie Sollinger & Lisa Zhang
